A rapid cyclic voltammetric method for studying cement factors affecting the corrosion of reinforced concrete

چکیده
A rapid cyclic voltammetric method for studying the influence of cement factors on the corrosion of embedded iron and steel in hardened cement paste is described. The technique employs a “cement electrode” consisting of an iron or steel wire embedded in a miniature cylinder of hardened cement paste. The rapid cyclic voltammetric method is fast, reproducible, and provides information on the corrosiveness of the pore solution environment surrounding the embedded metal. The usefulness of the method is demonstrated by showing how it can be used to evaluate the threshold chloride content of hardened ordinary portland cement paste at which corrosion begins and by using it to evaluate the relative efficacy of several admixed corrosion inhibitors. © 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. The Effect of Caspian Sea Water on Corrosion Resistance and Compressive Strength of Reinforced Concrete Containing Different SiO2 Pozzolan
Many parameters are influenced by the diffusion of chloride on concrete in marine environments and these can affect concrete quality. In this study, the effect of water to cement ratio of 0.35, 0.40 and 0.45 on corrosion resistance and compressive strength of reinforced concrete was evaluated. Moreover, different percentages of micro silica (SiO2) including 5, 7.5 and 10% were utilized, in orde...

Present paper investigated the strain and damage sensing property on concrete cubes embedded with carbon fibers. Concrete cubes of dimension 150 mm have been casted with different concentration of carbon fibers to study the strain and damage sensing property under cyclic loading that can be further used for health monitoring as non-destructive testing (NDT) approach. All the specimens were test...
متن کاملReliability Analysis of Corroded Reinforced Concrete Beams Using Enhanced HL-RF Method
Steel corrosion of bars in concrete structures is a complex process which leads to the reduction of the cross-section bars and decreasing the resistance of the concrete and steel materials. In this study, reliability analysis of a reinforced concrete beam with corrosion defects under the distributed load was investigated using the enhanced Hasofer-Lind and Rackwitz-Fiessler (EHL-RF) method base...

Masonry infill has been widely used as building material due to its cost effectiveness and availability. The failure of these masonry infill walls during the past earthquakes have underscored the importance of ensuring the safety of the infill walls when it is subjected to lateral loads. In-plane and out of plane failures have been observed in many reinforced concrete framed building with maso...
